Bonanza.com Wins "Favorite Spot to Sell Vintage Collectibles" for the Second Year in a Row!

Towards the end of February, online users were asked to vote in several categories for the 2012 Readers' Choice Awards on About.com.  Bonanza was nominated for two categories.  The first category was "Your Favorite Spot to Sell Vintage Collectibles," and the second category was "Your Favorite Spot to Shop for Vintage Collectibles." Voting was limited to one vote per person each day and Bonanza was going up against such heavies as eBay and Etsy among other finalists (Tias, Zibbet, and Ruby Lane).  The polls closed on March 21st, 2012 and the votes were tallied and we are happy to report that Bonanza was once again voted by About.com readers as the top "Favorite Spot to Sell Vintage Collectibles" receiving 39% of the vote.  This is the second year in a row that Bonanza has received this award.  Bonanza also captured a respectable 32% of the votes for "Favorite Spot to Shop for Vintage Collectibles," which was enough votes to take second place in this category (there was only a 5% difference in votes between 1st and 2nd place (Congrats Tias).  Now in its fifth year, the About.com Readers' Choice Awards honor the best products, features and services across more than a dozen categories, ranging from technology to hobbies to parenting and more, as selected by its readers.

A big "Thank you" to everyone in the Bonanza community for doing your part to make Bonanza awesome.  In case you are wondering, we have already requested that About.com add a category for the best use of Cats in eCommerce.  Meowww!

Great news!

I don’t suppose you’d care to reward our loyalty by giving us collectible sellers equal exposure on the home page, now, would you? just askin …

Wow. Too bad they won’t see any vintage collectibles when they come to the front door home page.
Why not try it and see if you get more clicks past the Home Page into our wonderful site full of Vintage Collectibles!

Hooray…..for Bonanza receiving the award for best place to sell antiques. Getting second in the other category was also great.

Meoww…….we have probably already won that one….LOL!

I have made many, many hand picked lists….that are not just new and clothing…..I would love to have a chance to be on the front page. I have worked really hard on all of these lists….and I guess I don’t have or know what it takes to win a place on the front page.

Good job Bonz Boyz and Girlz…..for working so hard on this site.

Starfisher says: 04/04/12 at 16:50:54

It would be great to see this winning category featured on the home page along with the fashions. So many great HPLs feature vintage collectibles, art, jewelry and more.

momspennies says: 04/05/12 at 06:57:11

I agree with all…we didn’t win the award for Fashions.
As has been said privately, please bring back the Special Offerings that make us Unique!
Congrats on the award.

A few days ago I was reading the results of the Reader’s Choice awards and on one of the pages it talked about how many members and how many items there are on TIAS. I’ve been looking, but of course I can’t find that page now but I remember thinking that they have about 25% of members and items that we have and they still beat us. That’s because they are about Antiques and Collectibles!

I did just now find a newsletter that TIAS put out that is dated January 30th, 2012. They listed the “top selling” results and this is what it says………

This list shows the top selling categories by the number of items sold in that category
1. China & Dinnerware
2. Glass
3. Advertising Collectibles
4. Vintage Sewing
5. Jewelry
6. Holiday & Seasonal
7. Kitchen Collectibles
8. Paper & Ephemera
10. Toys
-

This list shows the top selling categories based on how much customers spent for items in that category
1. Jewelry
2. Furniture & Accessories
3. China & Dinnerware
4. Figurines
5. Glass
6. Memorabilia
7. Vintage Clothing
8. Porcelain & Pottery
9. Kitchen Collectibles
10. Silver

Trust me, I’m not trying to advertise or make TIAS sound good. I’m just pointing out how and why they beat us.

Just think how badly we could have beat them in both the “Best Place To Shop”, and “Best Place to Sell” if the home page showcased some of the above items!
