New Mobile Bonanza Helps Shoppers On-The-Go

Finding and buying extraordinary items with your phone just got easier!

If you shop Bonanza with your smart phone, you'll find that it's now faster, more streamlined, and just the right size.  We've updated our site to better handle our growing traffic from mobile devices

Bonanza MobileWhat's different for mobile?

If you visit Bonanza with a mobile phone, you'll see a different-looking site than if you were using a non-mobile computer.  Some of the highlights include:

Smaller, less busy header.  It just has the essentials so you don't have to swipe so far to find what you're looking for.

Larger fonts.  Squint less and avoid zooming just to find out how much something is.

Bigger buttons and links.  Now, adult-sized fingers can tap the right link, rather than mashing all over hoping for the best.

Just the shopping.  When you're on the go, you want a streamlined site that helps you get what you need, fast.

Why all this love for mobile users?

First, we mentioned above that our traffic from mobile sites has increased: in fact, it's nearly doubled from this time last year.  We can't ignore that kind of growth.  Especially when all projections are that mobile growth will only increase.

What's more, we've noticed that users the most successful mobile sites give the user many of the elements we note above (large fonts, extra space).  We want our sellers to experience the full benefit of their buyers, whether those buyers arrive via mobile or not.

Any mobile updates for sellers?

It's on our list!  We are excited about future mobile updates that will make it easier to snap pictures from your phone to post items.  We are also eager to allow checking and responding to bmail in the future.  However, for the time being, there is a link at the bottom that lets you switch back to the non-mobile version, where you can get done what you need to get done.

What else is new?

Our programming team is dedicating this week to fixing bugs and adding some of the most requested features our buyers and sellers have requested over the last few months.  Stay tuned over the coming days for more exciting updates.

These changes are great! Keep up the awesome work.

Somewhat related question: is there a Bonanza app in the works?

Can you give us an estimated time as to when the app will be available?

Sounds great!

Can someone with a phone let us know the best way to write titles & descriptions for this? How much of the title shows? Right now I have bullet lists double spaced for descriptions.

I have foreign students who live with me as a host mother. They have a nice big TV in the room, a DVD player and VHS player/recorder and their own standard size laptop computers …YET, they will stream a 2 hour movie to watch ON THEIR PHONE! Crazy! It’s all going backwards.

Gone are the days of setting down with a fresh cup of coffee to surf the web on one’s computer, be it a laptop or desktop, and SHOP on a nice big clear screen. Well, for some, maybe.

I watch my brother [50 years old and a 6 figure salary] sit on the couch for hours scrolling thru his super smart PHONE just to see what he can see or do on it. Like a kid with a new toy.

Once, while Christmas shopping, it actually came in handy. We were at a store that did not have what we wanted, and Joe got on his phone and located a store that did. Saved us a bunch of driving around in a snowstorm. But that was for immediate purchase and possession! Nevertheless, that incident made it suddenly very clear to me what Google was aiming at with the UPC’s, manufacturer’s codes etc. and their bias against the unique, vintage and collectible.

What market is this phone shopping aimed at?

I don’t think I have to worry about it.

Guess I’ll continue to take my photos the old fashioned way, as well – with a single use camera I can adjust and light properly and opened on an editing program and edited before they are uploaded.

I hope this includes adding the Google+ button to the site itself and on our individual listings………this would be excellent!!

Sellers DON’T need the App to shop…

Sellers need the App to sign in, collect our tokens, answer Bmail’s quicker, talk to or answer quick texts, add, remove or edit items, maybe check in the forums and help other sellers with questions in the forums… NOT for Buying!!!!! Please, Please, Please consider all these facts before you launch an App that we might pay for!!! I don’t want to buy an App that I will have to wait 6- 8 months before I can do any of the above listed!!!!!

I’m curious about the cost of the App. Will it be Free, or low cost? Will it be another $0.99 app? Will Bonanza allow outside developers to create a seller app for Bonanza sellers? How much interest is there for a paid ($0.99) seller App?
