I go through vintage, collectible, and used books page by page noting any defects found. I make every attempt to grade by internationally accepted standards as stated below. If you have a question about any book offered, please email me before purchasing.

NEW: Exactly as stated; a crisp fresh copy; unread.

AS NEW; FINE; MINT: Gently read with loving care, but lacking the pristine crispness of a new copy. Any minor blemish in the book or wrapper must be noted.

NEAR FINE: A book approaching FINE (or AS NEW or MINT) but with a couple of very minor defects or faults, which must be noted.

PLEASE NOTE: From here on, there may be “+ (Plus)” or “- (Minus)” in a grade, which will mean that it is above the grade noted but not quite to the next higher grade for “+”, and that it is below the grade noted but not quite to the next lower grade for “-”, i.e., Very Good + (or Plus)/Very Good – (or Minus). Which means the book is better than Very Good and the dust jacket grade is less than Very Good.]

VERY GOOD: A book showing some signs of wear. Any defects or faults must be noted.

GOOD: The average used book ( no longer fresh), that is totally complete (as issued) and intact. Any defects must be noted. Please note; “Good” as used in book grading is not the normal “Good” as used in everyday conversation. It may mean several defects are present, and if so, I will list them all, and will also use grades of good minus or good plus, or even good plus plus to give an accurate accounting of the book’s condition.

FAIR: A worn book that has complete text pages (including those with maps or plates) but may lack endpapers, half-title page, etc. Any defects or faults must be noted.

POOR or READING COPY: A book that is sufficiently worn that its only merit is the complete text, which must be legible. Any missing maps or plates must be noted. May be soiled, scuffed, stained, or spotted, and may have loose joints, hinges, pages, etc.

EX-LIBRARY: Must always be designated as such no matter what the condition of the book.

BOOK CLUB: Must always be noted as such no matter what the condition of the book.

BINDING COPY: A book in which the text block, including illustrations, is complete but the binding is lacking, or in such poor condition it is beyond realistic restoration efforts.

REMAINDER MARKS, BOOKPLATES, PREVIOUS OWNER’S NAME: These are faults and must always be noted, if they apply.

At this time, shipping to the lower 48 states only. If you reside in Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, another US territory, or are on active military duty, and require shipment to an APO/FPO destination, please contact me prior to payment for a shipping quote. Please be aware orders shipping to APO/FPO destinations may take up to 30 days in transit.

Items shipped within one to two business days of completed purchase.

All ship to addresses must be confirmed through your payment provider prior to sale completion.

Delivery confirmation provided on all shipments. Insurance may be required dependant on value.

Books are shipped USPS Media Mail unless otherwise requested. Allow 2-9 days for delivery ( occasionally a bit longer).

Packaging: I take great care in packing my items so they may arrive safely at their destination. Customer satisfaction is a priority at Southwest Americana! I use both new and clean used materials collecting used materials from sources that wouldn’t otherwise recycle in the hopes of saving a few trees. For reference; in addition to the severe drought and other local wildfires, the 2011 Bastrop, Texas wildfire alone, destroyed over a million and a half trees.

Return policy

I take great care in grading and description of all items I offer for sale.
If you have any questions at all on an item, please email before purchasing.

All used books and older/collectible books are gone through page by page. It’s always possible to miss something, but I make every effort possible to insure customer satisfaction.

Returns are accepted but only fully refundable if there has been an error in item description. Should I make a grave error in description I will refund both the cost of the item as well as outgoing shipping and return shipping .

Items returned re buyers remorse require the buyer to pay return shipping with tracking, insurance if applicable, and to package the item in such a way that the article is returned in the original condition sent.

PLEASE NOTE: Any return will require the following: Please email me within 7 days of receiving the item to request a return authorization number. A return authorization number will be issued to enable tracking your refund upon return of goods in original condition.
