Questions about prohibited items

I own a small online business specializing in Outdoor Recreational Items and Preparedness Emergency Survival and Safety Gear and Equipment, As such I carry many Pocket Knives for utilitarian, and collection purposes only, in fact many of the knives I carry are purchased by Emergency Services Personnel (Fire Fighters, EMS, and Police Departments as they continue built in Emergency Seat Belt Cutters and window breakers used to free an individual trapped in a vehicle and other emergency situations.

Also according to the Federal Government the only knives carrying a legal designation as illegal are Switchblades and Ballistic knives which are defined as any knife with a detachable blade actioned by a button. There are no other Federal laws and laws on a state and local level do not carry any criminal or civil charges for knives as the ones I carry, unless the person in possession intends to use the knife for the purpose of committing a crime or to increase inflict harm, bodily injury or death.

The knives I carry have no legal or age restrictions due to the fact that I only carry knives that have a open length no greater than 9 inches and a blade length less than 4 inches. I also do NOT carry any knife that is listed as dangerous and highly restricted weapon. That list includes knives such as Switchblades, Butterfly knives, Gravity Knives, Daggers, stilettos, Fully Automatic and Push button knives (not to be confused with Assisted Opening and Spring Assisted Opening knives which are not restricted, any and all knives designed to be concealed.

I am asking and specifying this information because I read through the Terms of Service Agreement and Acceptable Use Agreement and it lists Pocket Knives as prohibited items to sell, however, after doing search on the site here I found quite a large number of booths that have Pocket Knives listed for sale hence my confusion.

I have sent this question to Bonanza Help Center but have not received a response yet. I figured I would as the community and see if anyone can help me understand this.

I appreciate your replies.

See this is the part I dont understand. Pocket Knives are NOT weapons according to the law and there for I do not understand why they are prohibited. When was the last time you bought a pocket knife and

thought to yourself, I think I’m going to buy a weapon today? No one has because every one uses them as a tool and that’s what they are they are nothing more than tools. There is no legal or age restrictions for the ones I sell, so it’s nothing more then a prejudice rather then about a weapon

Yes, knives (and other items that can be classified as weapons) are prohibited by the terms of use. I’m sure that many items of this type end up listed because it is difficult to police every listing that a seller posts. However, if Bonanza sees the listing or it gets reported as a violation, your listing(s) are subject to removal.

Illegal or not, Bonanza chooses not to have certain items listed for sale on their website. Your best answer will come from Bonanza Support. You will eventually get an answer from them.

Good luck.

I do appreciate your response however I just wish that site such as this would not have such a prejudice against items that pose no threat.

I will try to see if I can still list the other items I have as there is a nice potential to give my company additional visibility.

You could write your state and federal representatives and express your concern(s) over them regulating a mere item, when it’s not the item that commits crime. “Things” are just that – things; inanimate objects. Thugs and criminals always get their hands on their weapon of choice, and usually from the black market, making it a double edged-sword.

Time is now – we have a business-friendly President and some of our lawmakers need a lot of nudging to get that way. Find their contact info at senate.gov/senators/contact/ and house.gov/representatives/ .

Good luck. We small business people need to fight for ourselves because no one else is going to do it for us.

I also hear that Spoons will soon be outlawed. Combined with Ice Cream, they have been found to make people FAT.

The prohibited items are Bonanza’s rules. The government has no control over what a private business allows.

The reason I ask is that many companies ban the sale of weapons and knives tha

knives designated as dangerous. The ones I carry are not part of that list and many places have an exception for them. I guess not here.

There is no issue with the governments designation of my items. These are not considered dangerous by the governments point of view.
