Anyone using direct checkout yet? take a look at paypal's newest update.

Or any other payment options out there other than paypal that anyone uses? Direct checkout is sounding pretty good after hearing about paypal’s latest update, especially the buyer return update!! But i want to make sure direct checkout doesnt use any of paypal’s guidelines on returns or anything else.

Oh wow, thats nuts. 6 months is crazy

misskeech says: September 18, 2014

That’s what i thought also. I really need to find an alternative.

I just read about a new checkout called “Visa Checkout”. It’s free for consumers, but I have no idea how it would work from the developers end. I was trying to read about it but I’m no developer. The link for that info is [URL removed] – anyone else ever hear of this?

[URL removed] here are the policies for direct checkout

Also, realize it is up to the buyer credit card company’s policies..if they reverse the payment, they reverse the payment, not much you can do about that

paypal is my only choice on here – so no other options at the moment.

And I don’t think direct checkout will suit my needs anyway with regard to reporting shipping etc for payment.

Miss Keech –
I am kind of stuck, like others on Bonanza. I do not have enough sales for direct check out, or enough feedback as a result of the sales, so I have no other option but to use Paypal here on Bonanza.
Six months dispute/return/refund policy is ridiculous. How are we suppose to compete with brick and mortars with those stringent guidelines. I do not have a problem with a legitimate return policy, but six months is a little outrageous.
To answer your question – No, I have no idea if direct checkout’s policies coincide with paypals. If they do not or do really isn’t the question…because if they do not, they could always change it down the line – just like paypal has done.
You may have to ask admin about the direct check out’s policies.
Good Luck!
If you do get an answer, could you please post it on here.
Thanx – MaryAnn

Yes, i will MaryAnn., I don’t mind a reasonable return time either, but my gosh, I will have to stop selling completely if I don’t find an alternative. Its bad enough as it is now, but 6 months on a return? I don’t make nearly enough to be able to loan out items to buyers for 6 months

tunstlescontreasures says: September 18, 2014

Yes Exactly! Loan out items is the perfect wording for this new policy.

Amazon checkout holds $$ for at least 2 weeks – if we cannot find some place other than paypal, I will have to quit all sites I sell on. I cannot afford to sell vintage items and hold funds for 6 months……..absolutely ridiculous!

14 days is better than the up to 45 days for direct credit card checkout, and it is max of 2 weeks and once you start getting sales regularly, it comes faster. PP is not holding for 6 mo, its returns up to 6 months

A2z4u2c says: September 18, 2014

They only have the hold until you are an established seller. We get a lot of sales here on Bonanza with CBA and we get paid right away.

misskeech says: September 18, 2014

Yes Barb, Paypal is returns for up to 6 months, they do not hold your funds for 6 months……A2z4u2c, what is CBA?

Oh my goodness, I hadn’t read that yet – SIX months? What is going on with PayPal – it seems they’re going out of their way to make selling very difficult and risky. Some people are getting into Bitcoins – I was tempted to try that but after reading about it, it sounded a bit risky if I understood it correctly.

There’s money orders, but no one likes to use them because they take too long. And there’s Wire Transfers, but people don’t trust that.

What about e-checks? One site I purchase from uses those and it works quite well…

Well, count me in with those of you looking for a new solution.

Ebay also accepts propay, im looking into that as an option along with Bonanza direct check ouit.

I’m currently looking for other alternatives myself. Consider this [URL removed] USPS does not keep tracking information that long and Paypal needs online viewable proof that the item was delivered. So how will I be able to fight a “Item Not Recieved” claim if there is no proof? Sure does open it up for fraud.

I use Stamps.com for all my shipping. I wish they didn’t have a monthly fee, but its worth it to have tracking info forever. An added plus is having emails and addresses from past customers for marketing purposes and followup.

tunstlescontreasures says: September 18, 2014

Awesome…will have to look into that. Thanks!

p2ptreasures says: September 18, 2014

I copy and paste tracking numbers on all invoices so I have a record through USPS and Fedex.

p2ptreasures says: September 18, 2014

I can take direct credit card payments on some sites, but not here. Wish I could use my own cc processing company, would do away with paypal entirely.

misskeech says: September 18, 2014

SegundaVez, i tried stamps.com, i was supposed to get the free trial, and they kept billing me. Plus it would not work with my computer for some reason, no matter what browser i used.

jonesdm63 says: September 19, 2014

USPS gives a receipt with payment and tracking #. Save it! I save all my receipts for a few years!

Seriously, I do not see this policy change by paypal to effect me at all. I’ve never in 10 years, either with Bonanaza or ebay had a paypal transaction dispute. I see no big deal! I have direct pay and nobody ever uses it!

answered over 9 years ago

I’ve been selling on the internet since 2000 and been in the mail order book business since 1976 and have never taken anything but checks or money orders. No serious problems that couldn’t be solved. Yes have lost a few sales because I haven’t taken Paypal but my bank told me to stay away from Paypal so have. Maybe in the future I will consider Bonanza’s direct pay after they get it going and not require another payment service with it.
