Hi everyone. Here’s the new thread for July 2012.

Right now we have 52 participants.

If you’d like to join us, please post your link AND twitter ID in this thread. You’ll be added to the list, in a current group. We are going to try to maintain 7 groups. We ask that by joining us, you commit to tweeting one group a day. That way you’ll get through the entire list in one week. If you have the time to tweet 2 groups or more, all the better. Begin with the group you’re in and go down the list, day by day. If we all begin with our own groups then the tweets will be fairly evenly spread throughout the list. Otherwise there’s a natural tendency to begin at the beginning. When you get to the end, go back to the top and start again. For those of use who have been at this a while, views have really increased. And as everyone knows, an item has to be viewed to be purchased.

Unfortunately, we have to have a way to monitor participation. Afterall, it would not be fair if a booth was the recipient of tweets from 50 or 60 other participants and did not tweet themselves. Therefore, we ask that you post something in the chat in each booth you visit to tweet. Additionally we ask that you post to this thread at least weekly. Daily is welcome, too.

PLEASE NOTE: As you look through the list below, you’ll see that I only have twitter ID links for about half of the group. I began requesting them in the thread the middle of last month. Perhaps I missed your post. If so, please post you twitter link again.

From time to time, a few of our members have asked to be put on a temporary hold. They are so indicated. Tweet them if you’d like, or skip them, at your discretion, but understand you will not receive a return tweet for now. Thanks for understanding.

In addition to those marked as away (comment above) you may also choose to skip any booth whose owner hasn’t logged in for three days. For example, on a Monday, the booth has not been tended to since Friday or earlier, you may skip it. While we do not want to exclude anyone, we do want our participants to be actively involved. This helps everyone with sales and elevates the integrity of our group.

Note The items in this booth are Mary Kay products. However, because of an agreement between Google and Mary Kay, Mary Kay branded items not from authorized distributors cannot be displayed in GPS. There are a few other brands out there that have similar arrangements. Kindly, preface all tweets from this booth with the words “Mary Kay”. Thank you.

Please read. Important.

In an effort to make sure everyone is on the same page, I thought I would share with the group why tweeting works (at least in theory).

We’re all familiar with many of our fellow sellers who offer tweeting packages for sale. We’ll call them professional tweeters. How can they charge for such a service. Easy. If you go to their twitter profiles, you’ll see that they have tens of thousands of followers. One Bonz tweeter actually had a thread offering free promotion to the person who correctly guessed when she’d hit x0,000 followers. The x is there because I can’t remember the exact number, but it may have been 80,000. The exact number isn’t really important. But think about it, if this person or any of the professional tweeters tweet for you, tens of thousands of people will potentially see that tweet. Obviously sales are not guaranteed but your views will certainly go up and you have to have your items seen in order for them to be purchased.

Among our ranks we have several member with followers in excess of 10,000. Most of us have 500-2,000 followers. However, we have several members with less than 500 followers and some with less than 100.

So let’s take a look at an extreme example. The member with over 10,000 followers tweets for a member with only 100 followers. Who benefits from this? In my opinion, the member with only 100 followers reaps a huge benefit from up to 10,000 tweeters seeing that tweet, while the member with the larger following gets very little benefit with on a max of 100 tweeters seeing the item tweeted on his/her behalf.

We’ll never all be equal. That’s virtually impossible. But I think it’s the responsibility of each member here to work to increase their twitter followers. I’m trying to get my hands on some stats which will tell us how many people have to see something to click on it and how many people need to click before someone actually buys. I know the data’s out there, just haven’t found it yet. If you have access to stats like that, please post it in the thread or message me and I’ll add it to this post. I think it will be eye-opening.

Finally, the purpose of this post is not to offend anyone. Rather I wish to encourage everyone to improve upon what we already have. Come year-end, when we reap the most benefit, Google shopping (GPS) will no longer feature our items. Twitter and other similar venues will become even more important.
