I have a Twitter page at https://twitter.com/TheRobinsRoost
but I haven’t done anything with it for a long time. It was created when I was selling records on a store called The Record Ranch, but then, that store closed, and I haven’t done anything with it since.

So what do you do in your Twitter page? Does anyone actually look at it?

I go to twitter every day. In November I started with a few followers and now have 1750. I tweet products from my booth and tweet for others promoting their products. By tweeting every day, my booth views and item views have increased significantly. I’m not sure I have any more sales from it, but at least people are visiting and browsing.

I followed you . Please follow back. I am Donnadojejo on Twitter.

First step is to get some followers.Put your Bonanza booth address in your profile. Then ask people here to follow you and follow everyone here who has posted their twitter account. Search for Twitter in the threads on the forum and you will find many people who will help you get started. I started in March and I now have almost 1600 followers.

Then start tweeting!!

Are you receiving sales from all of your tweeting dojejo?

What Twitter does is it brings Bonanza to the top of the pile when someone does a search at one of the search engines. It makes us more visible as we are being “seen” by them, we are considered “relevant”. It may not directly get YOU a sale, but it gets us in the search at least. I tweet at least an hour a day myself, for myself and for others. It’s a relaxing way to unwind from the day job.

Hi Robins Roost & Imhnh53

What do you mean by your Twitter ‘Page’? Do you mean your profile? Do you mean technically? Do you mean just in general? Or all of the above?

I am really new at Twitter. There are people here that have been at it a lot longer than I and know their way around. I am still in the ‘lucky to keep up stage’ and to add more confusion, everyone seems to have their own ideas and techniques about how to Tweet. I’ll just share my Twitter thoughts so far (keep in mind, I am still finding my way).

1) Update your profile from your old business if you haven’t already.

2) Learn about and definitely USE LISTS. Give careful consideration as to how to name them and where to put your followers.

3) Make up your own mind about how you want to tweet. Are you more of a volume Tweeter or a personal Tweeter or somewhere in-between? Only you can decide this (and yes, I’m still figuring this out as well).

To me, this is probably the most important thing. Find your own style. And have fun. It shows when you don’t.

4) DO NOT click on ANY links in an email from one of your Twitter friends be it in Direct Messages or through Direct Messages in your real email. I have been caught and hacked 3 times in the very short time I’ve been on Twitter (about 1 to 2 months).

5) Remember your manners and Good Luck! I honestly don’t know how people keep up.

OK, I’ve updated my profile from my old business. And I clicked to follow Donna and RedBird. Thanks for following. I still am not sure what to say in the tweets, but I guess I’ll learn. I’ll go look at some of you folks’ twitters.

And I got email messages telling that you were following. Now how do I find the way to your Twitter profiles?

Okay, I am following you. Here is my Twitter address: https://twitter.com/a_momzilla_gig

Just tweet. Maybe say hello and tell people who you are in 140 or less.

When you go to your profile page, go to the left and click on ‘Followers’. That will show you who is following you and there will be a button for you to follow back if you want to.

@Jazzy- A few….. not as many as I would like of course….But I still figure it’s worth a try, huh? Many views is still better than no views. No one can buy what they don’t see.

Robins Roost

I just tweeted about you on Twitter. You find this by clicking on ‘Connect’ in the Twitter toolbar and then click on interactions. You can see what I said there. If you want to retweet it (so that others may see it, etc) then just scroll around the bottom of my tweet. You should see delete, retweet, favorite, reply, etc.

Just click on what ever it is you want to do.

All Right Robin’s Roost! See?

So… you’ve retweeted my tweet about/to you. So that let’s even more people see your name, tweet, etc.

IF you especially like the tweet or think it’s worthy of special attention, you can click the favorite button. (I am NOT saying my tweet to you was, just using it as an example).

And/or you can reply to the tweet. Depending of course on what it is and what your style is. For example you could click the reply button and say anything you want. Just some typical samples:

Thanks For The Mention! Appreciate it! Leave Me Alone! Whatever.

Bonanza is set-up to create the tiny URLs for you. Just click the “tweet” button on any bonanza item, and most of the work is done for you.

You can go to your twitter profile and see your own tweets to know how they look.

I have said this before, though I don’t think many want to try and understand it. There’s no denying that tweeting will increase your item view count. And it may help Bonanza in search rankings.

As several have said before, lots of views but not sure if they generate sales.

Here’s the thing, if you have followers, most are like yourself, another seller. Some have thousands of followers. Then there are those who you follow, and some may follow thousands, again, most are probably sellers.

I follow less than 500. Yet I receive on average 15,000 tweets in a 24 hr period. A periodic scan of those tweets show the majority from sellers. Do I read them? No. Do you read yours?

The point I want to make is this, increased item views are very misleading. Most come from ‘bots’. If you really want to know how many are actual people, DO NOT LINK TO YOUR ITEM when you tweet it. Link to the category if you have your own booth categories setup. Promote you booth in the Promote Your Booth board and tweet it with a link to the thread. Tweet your booth URL, tweet your Booth Details.

These tweets will generate a much lower item view count because there will be no bots or a very small bot count. But they will generate Booth Views which you won’t see until the next day.

If you have 100 individual Mystery Paperbacks listed and they are in a ‘Books > Mystery’ category, link to the category. That one tweet may generate several item views from the category. If someone follows your link, the page to your category opens and there are at least 48 similar items to choose from.

One other thing is to tweet from twitter because you can include a photo of the product. If you have a beautiful piece of jewelry, can you describe it better than a photo in 120 characters?

You will actually have a better feel for the number of item views you receive and possibly sales results. You won’t know positively that your sale came from a tweet, but if you tweet item A with a link to the category, but see an increase on item B or C or both, then a sale of almost any item from the category within say an hour if not sooner could very possibly be from your tweet effort.

And one more thing, doing it this way you will never come to the boards and say “I’m getting lots of views, but ain’t selling a darn thing.” Wouldn’t it be better to say, “Yesterday I had a total of 60 item views and sold 2 or 3 items”. JMHO

Twitter toolbar?

Posted by pacificarising, . 1,626 total posts | Posted 9 months ago

Hi G.

For lack of a better term, why not?

It’s not really a header. I don’t know, I guess calling it a menu would have been better?

What do you call it?

Sheeny’s Shack – how do you include a picture when you tweet from twitter? Or is it already done for you when you do it this way?

Hi Momzilla, it’s technically a toolbar, I just never thought of it that way and had to go look! LOL

Can a person tweet pictures? I recall asking before & not getting a real answer. Isn’t that what Pinterest is all about?

Germaine.

Technically, I had no idea what it was. I was just trying to come up with a name so I could try and help the OP. I figured Toolbar was as good as any.

And yes, I would love to know how to Tweet a picture as well.

Maybe someone who knows will come along and let us know, one way or the other.

I always think of a toolbar at word processors or at browsers in particular.

In order to tweet a photo in your tweet line, you have to have the photo hosted on your computer first.

You then have to go to Twitter in order to send this type of tweet. At least for the very first time you tweet the item.

TIP: As you do your tweets, save them to a list, so that you can retweet these on other days too.

Start in quick view. copy your title, then click on the twitter icon.

This opens the tweet box. The box will already contain the URL for the listing. Paste your title IN FRONT OF your URL.

NOW, Don’t send it….Copy the entire tweet from that tweet box and carry it to twitter.

On your Home Page, open your tweet box by clicking your mouse in it. Paste what you just copied from your Quick View box into that box on Twitter. Now stop.

If you’ll notice, there should be a small camera icon at the lower left corner under the tweet box. Click on that.

It will open up your photo storage space from your computer. Chose the photo you are going to load for the item you’re tweeting. Once it uploads, you will see the photo materialize.

Double check that you have not exceeded the 140 characters, which will now include the url for the picture too.

Then Send your tweet.

NOW, locate your tweet as it shows at the top of your page.
Copy the entire tweet onto a notepad page.
Then, go back to the tweet and right click on the Listings url, and COPY THE LINK, carry it back to the notepaf and paste it over the url there. You will notice the link you copied becomes a shorter link, much like a tinyurl.

Now, go back and click on the picture link and do the same thing…only, you’ll see on your document that when you first copied it to notepad, there was no link that shows up. So, you will add it at the end of your tweet on your notepad.

Now, anytime you want to tweet that item, you have it on a list, handy and ready to copy and paste into twitter.

Here is what it will look like in each stage.

Step 1 is this.
Walt Disney World Mickey Mouse Sorcerer’s Coffee Mug 3-D http://www.bonanza.com/listings/Walt-Disney-World-Mickey-Mouse-Sorcerer-s-Coffee-Mug-3-D-14-fl-oz/82474183 Highly collectible and sought after!

Step 3, this is how it looks once everything ahs been captured and pasted with tinyurls:

By the way, looks like I need to get busy over there again…

Yeah, it really looks like a lot of stuff to take in, but once you do a few, you can figure it out. It’s not any easier to explain than it is to understand, so don’t feel bad….

I’m off to bed, head is a rollin’ here~
