The Giant´s Causeway is said to have been built by Fionn Mac Cumhaill (or ‘Finn Mac Cool’) when a Scottish giant, Benandonner was threatening to invade Ireland. In a fit of rage, Fionn threw the columns into the sea to create a path to Scotland, where he defeated Benandonner in combat. The Giant´s Causeway is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Crossing it is both thrilling and nervewracking.

Also close to the Giant´s Causeway, on the sheer cliffs east of Portrush, is the spectacular Dunluce Castle.
