This is a classic vintage PANASONIC RS-836A Stereo 8 Track Tape Player AM-FM Boombox with detachable AC cord. The exterior is in nice condition with a few minor scratches. When plugged into the AC the radio works great. Sound is excellent! The battery compartment shows the effects of time with some graying/greening of the springs, but I cleaned up the contact ends and since one of the positive contacts was partially missing (see last two photos), I inserted a small piece of aluminum foil to bridge the gap and was able to get the unit to play on battery power (4 C batteries, not included). The tape deck works for a few minutes, but then drags down to a slow drawl. It might need a new belt, but I don't know.
