This delightful Stoneware Colonial Style Pitcher sports a matte finish making it reflective of a simpler era and time in our Nation's history. Pottery for the common man, it has been decorated in an abstract style of brush strokes on two sides. A broad area of light blue is streaked with royal blue which compliments the grey base color. Brown specks show through the grey glaze adding an earthy feel to the overall design. The foot has been nicely trimmed and left unglazed. It shows a signature of the maker that we cannot make out. The spout has been created by hand by pressing perpendicularly with one hand on the outside while pressing outward on the inside, much like the way a pie crust is crimped. The handle has been stretched or pulled from a lump of clay and applied to the body. The potter also gently pressed fingers into the middle of the pitcher to create ridges as it was turning on the wheel, adding a nice finishing touch to the overall design. This pitcher is in original mint condition. A treasure to own or gift to someone you love.
