This is a lovely vintage Seagull silvertone metal brooch or pin designed by Giovanni. This figural brooch features a bird taking off in flight with the raised wings spread in an open upward motion. The brooch measures approximately 2 ½ inches from the tip of the wings to the feet and just over 1 ½ inches wide. It has a unique double wing design. The finish is a textured brushed silver color and has highly detailed feathers. The back is stamped © GIOVANNI. Giovannini, Inc. is located in Providence, Rhode Island. The Giovanni Mark was first used in 1959. This is probably from the 1970s, but I can’t be sure.

The brooch is in great vintage condition as you can see by the enlarged photographs. There are a few very tiny spots where the silver finish is off, but you don't see them without magnification. The back has a rollover clasp pinback, which functions properly.

This dramatic and artistic piece of jewelry would make a great addition to your collection of figural bird jewelry. It is a large piece ad would look beautiful as an accent on a jacket lapel or on a scarf. Because the wings are separated you can easily pin it to a scarf and run the scarf through the wing span. It would be perfect for any bird lover, a wonderful accessory to compliment any beach or summer wardrobe.
