Vintage Mexico Copper Necklace Aztec Mayan Warrior Face Mask Pendant
Mexican Mixed Metals
Tribal Ethnic Headdress
Carved Stone
Hand Worked Handcrafted
Hallmark with Crown
Large 4 Inches

This is a gorgeous vintage one of a kind bold and substantial Aztec mask or face medallion necklace. It is made of heavy old solid copper and brass and has a great tribal look. The carved face appears to be made of stone or a type of terra cotta clay pottery and is wearing an Aztec or Mayan headdress. The warrior face is mounted on the dark rich copper backing. The medallion is a tiered double design with a fancy copper headdress mounted to the front of the mask. It has a handmade oval copper chain link necklace attached. The only mark is Mexico with a crown hallmark above the word. It is most likely circa 1940s or 1950s, but I'm just guessing.

This face medallion measures 4 inches tall and 3 inches wide. The chain is approximately 24 inches in total length. It weighs 2.8 ounces on my postage scale, which translates to 79.38 grams. The entire necklace is in very good vintage condition with no chips, cracks. The copper has not been polished and has the original old patina and could probably stand a cleaning. I don't want to risk changing the wonderful natural patina it has by inappropriate cleaning attempts. There is some verdigris on the metal, which you can see in the photos, but I think it adds to the appearance. The back of the pendant has a heavy copper patina from age as well. Please look at the photos as they are part of the description and show the details better than I can describe.

This is a fantastic and rare piece to add to your collection of vintage Mexican or Ethnic Jewelry. It is not your typical Mexican Sterling Silver, but a highly unusual copper piece. It was obviously made by a very talented artist. It makes a fantastic statement and is sure to be a conversation starter that everyone will remark on.
