This is a collectible Dachshund or Doxie Adult Dog, from Artesania Rinconada. It was introduced in 1979 and was retired in 1998 and is becoming hard to find. It is #107 and is part of the Classic Design Collection. Since 1972 Artesania Rinconada has been producing ceramic earthenware design items of the finest quality in Montevideo Uruguay. They have become internationally known for the unique character and personality of their figurines. The Artesania Rinconada figurines were designed by Jesus and Javier Carbajales. Loosely translated the company's name means “art of the corner”, and refers to the designs beginnings in the corner of the family home.
This beautiful little striking dog is hand carved and hand painted in Uruguay using ceramic and enamel. Because each one is hand painted and carved, no two are exactly alike. The dog is a soft brown color with a black nose and eyes. The dog is wearing a lovely yellow sweater blanket with white trim. It has amazing details on the face and the fur. This is one of many color variations. The bottom has been signed with the intials “aR”. It measures approximately 5 ¼ inches long and 2 ½ inches tall.
It is in great vintage condition as you can see by the enlarged photographs. There are no chips or cracks. There are some discolorations on the bottom of the feet (see photos), it may have been secured to a card or had felt pads on the bottom at one time. It does not come with the original box.
This would make a great addition to your collection of Rinconada figurines or a great gift to anyone who owns a Dachshund. Perfect for your favorite breeder or a thank you for your Veterinarian. It is a delightful art collectible.
