It is hardy in zones 5-9, has a mature height of 60-75 feet tall and a spread of 40-50 feet. Sweetgum grow at a medium to fast rate with full sun as the ideal condition, in clay as well as sandy soil, and is moderately drought tolerant. The seeds of this tree are eaten by many species of bird from purple finches to wild turkey.
