This is a vintage horse head brooch or pin that is made of a silver tone metal, which I think is pewter. It has a lovely rich dark patina to it that brings out the intricate details on the face, the bridle and the reins. It measures approximately 2 inches from the top of the ears to the bottom of the neck and 1 ¾ inches from the nose to the mane. This is most likely from the 1960s.
It is in great vintage condition except that the bar part of the clasp wobbles back and forth slightly on the base. It closes nicely with a roll over clasp and the wobble doesn't affect it. If you look closely at the enlarged photos you will see a couple of tiny holes near the base, this is from the mold when it was created, not damage. You don't notice them without magnification. I have not polished it because it has that gorgeous patina that comes only with age.
This would be perfect for any equestrian or horse lover.
