This a a colorful lot of sea life charms or pendants that include crabs, seahorses and fish. This listing includes all the charms shown, a total of eleven (11 charms or pendants). The charms are made of a gold tone metal with a flat back and a plumped front surface. The fronts are enameled with beautiful dimensional multicolor layers. The four (4) fish have gold and cream stripes and measures approximately 2 inches by 1 1/2 inches. The four (4) crabs are gold and pink and measures approximately 2 inches by 1 3/4 inches. The three (3) seahorses are in shades of gold, orange, green and blue and measures approximately 2 3/4 inches by 1 1/4 inches. They are fairly heavy and as a group weigh 7.9 ounces on my postage scale.
They are all in excellent condition on the fronts as you can see by the enlarged photographs. None of the enamel is chipped, cracked or missing. One of the fish has the gold finish worn off on the back, or it was never applied in the first place. I'm not sure of the metal used, but a magnet doesn't stick the charms and it looks like brass on the one fish without the gold coating on the back. A few have a little of the gold worn off on the ring, so it appears they may have been attached to something at one time, perhaps stored on a ribbon or a string. I can't remember when or where these were purchased, but I have searched the Internet and have not found any like them.
These are waiting to be turned into a nice necklace. You will need to add jump rings to them in order to use on a necklace so they will lay flat. Each one would make a great focal centerpiece on a necklace made of beads or shells. They could also be made into earrings, but I think they are too heavy for that use. You could easily turn them all into some type of a collar or bib necklace by attaching the rings to each other and adding a chain. You could add shells etc. to the back and create a larger pendant. Because the backs are flat, there are many uses for these lovely pieces. What a great find for any jewelry maker who is a sea or ocean lover. Perfect for a tropical scrapbook project or to to use as an accent to a piece of artwork. Keep a set for yourself and give a set to a friend as a gift. A great deal at $3.00 each!
