This design was inspired by a piece of ikat fabric with a floral motif. Flowers are not typical in ikat fabrics, which more often have geometric patterns, so I was immediately drawn to it. I love the simple graphic design of the flowers. The semi-matte papaya-colored flowers are on a pearly white background.

From Wikipedia: "Ikat is a dyeing technique used to pattern textiles; it employs resist dyeing on the yarns prior to dyeing and weaving the fabric. In ikat, the resist is formed by binding individual yarns or bundles of yarns with a tight wrapping applied in the desired pattern. The yarns are then dyed. Ikat techniques are most commonly used in southeast Asia."

The nearly 2,000 small beads are handwoven (without a loom), 2 beads at a time, using a technique called 2-drop peyote stitch. The technique gives the bracelet a lovely drape & feel, almost like fabric.
