More details about this itemVintage bread tray/platter by the Wilton Company. Marked RWP The Wilton Company on the bottom. This tray is not pewter, but made of Armetale, an aluminum-based alloy trademarked by the Wilton company. Wilton Armetale is a privately-owned business that was founded in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania in 1892. Wilton still manufactures and sells their products in department and specialty stores through the U.S. The Wilton Company states that their Armetale products are durable and will not rust, break, crack or chip under normal usage. They are a solid piece of metal with no coating applied. This tray is made with their matte finish which is similar to pewter. This tray is suitable for dining use and can be washed by hand with mild dish soap. Wilton began making Armetale in 1963, but I do not know how old this piece is. It’s 9 ” long and 6 ” wide. It’s a very sturdy piece and quite attractive. In excellent condition.
