Wade Irish Porcelain early donkey with cart and 50 similar items
More details about this itemThis is a classic Wade Irish Porcelain Donkey with Cart model C338 posey flower bowl from their Shamrock Pottery range. This shape was the 5th and final form in the Shamrock Pottery range which ended production in 1986. There were 2 different molds used to produce this vase and this one is the earlier form produced in the 1950s to 1960s. The difference is that the earlier version, like this one, has space between the base and the underside of the cart. In addition, at the ends of the cart shafts, there is a space between the shafts and the neck of the donkey. These areas are solid on the later version of the piece. This information comes from the Wonderful World of Wade Ireland book by Ian Warner and Mike Posgay. The base of this piece has the Shamrock Pottery mark type 31 which dates it to the mid 1950s. The vase measures 4” high by 6.25” long. This is another proof that this piece is an earlier version, as the newer one stands just 3 5/8” high. This wonderful vintage Wade Irish Porcelain piece is in excellent used condition and is free of chips or cracks. The glaze remains clear and glossy. Thank you for looking. Item location: B 10
