Midcentury modern Royal Haeger dimpled candy and 50 similar items
More details about this itemThis is a quintessential MCM Eames era Royal Haeger ceramic lidded candy box or bowl with lid and brass knob handle. This wonderful dimpled candy box dates to 1957 and still bears its original foil label on its lid. The piece is marked with an embossed number R 1579-S. The S designation indicates that this item was part of the Studio Haeger line introduced in the late 1940s. Many of the designs in that line were done by Helen Conover. This glaze coloration was known as Antique. The background color is cream and the “dimples” or “ostrich spots” if you will, are airbrushed with soft greens and brown tones. Haeger made several shapes using the dimpled ceramic form. However, this shape remains my favorite. I hate to see it go but downsizing dictates that I find it a new home where it will be appreciated for its midcentury modern form and function. The bowl measures 7.5” by 2” deep. With its lid on, it stands about 4.75” high. The lid is 6.5” wide by 2.75”. Both pieces of this candy box are in excellent condition and are free of chips or cracks. The brass ball knob on the lid has wonderful age-related patina. Thank you for looking. Item location: B 7
