Handmade Stoneware. Stripe pattern. Marshall Pottery, in Marshall, Texas, is one of the oldest potteries in the U.S. Since each pot is hand turned, each is a little different. Tan Glaze with blue stripe. Bottom unglazed. Heavy! Marked with Blue ink on bottom: Since 1895, Marshall Pottery, Marshall, TX, Master Potter, E. J. Humphries (Note: There are several potteries in Marshall, Texas, but "Marshall Pottery" is the old, historical one.) According to his son Tommy, E. J. Humphries made pottery for 60 years.
