This doll is great addition to any doll or figure collections. Overall is excellent. Measurement: 10" tall Hakata dolls, which originates in Fukuoka prefecture Japan, usually takes 2 to 4 weeks to finish this piece depending also the size of the doll and how meticulous the designs. This is fired and made in bisque-fired pottery press molds and takes a lot of process. This is original handpainted and sculpted. It takes a lot of time in painting a doll. There's a lot of stages in making Hakata dolls.Preparing the clay, modelling, making the body, firing at about 900 degrees centigrate, painting, facial features, and the final touch up. Each doll are design by different popular artist in Fukuoka. The dolls are very life-like and excellent because the artist put a lot of passion, pride and love of art in making these dolls. The dolls are very beautiful and they really last long, depending how you take care of them. The dolls that we are selling are original dolls and Made in Japan. - This includes the original box(pack aging) and the Black wood stand and the signature plaque of the artist. Hakata Dolls started in 1600 during the era of Azuchi/Moyoyama era). Kuroda Nagamasa, an influential lord, moved to the country of Chikuzen ( Hakata and its sorrounding areas)to rule there. At the time of his movement to Chikuzen, many craftsmen were requestd to get together at Hakata to build the town. This led to the foundation of our traditional handicrafts and arts. As of unglazed doll in late edo era, excellent craftman such as Nakanoko Kichibei, the founder of Sou-Hichi Yaki) did good work and hakata doll industry enjoyed popularity.
