1940s California School Watercolor: Barn by Lake

This original , UNSIGNED California School watercolor painting measures 15 by 22 inches.

It dates circa 1940-1950. It is painted on heavy watercolor paper.

It is in excellent condition, unsigned and unframed.

This is one painting from a collection of 20th century watercolor paintings that were found in the estate of a student of the well known and listed artist, Robert Landry.

A few were original signed works by Robert Landry. Some were painted (and signed) by Nancy Louise Hickman, whose estate they were originally purchased from.

Her style and signature are noticeably different from Landry so they can easily be distinguished from one another.

Others were unsigned and appear to be either Landry's or Hickman's work. A few other watercolors do not fit easily into either category and may have been the work of artist friends or by other students.

This painting is unsigned and we will leave it at that. Further research may very well allow for it to be more specifically described at a later date.
