1947 Webster New International Dictionary 2nd Edition Unabridged.

Dimensions: 12" tall x 9" wide by 7" thick.

This Dictionary has been through alot. Even to an Ivy League University back in the 50s. The Dictionary's binding and cover are in bad shape. However all the pages inside, except two places where it has writing, see pictures, are in very good condition. This is a rare Dictionary and is vey thick. Which is why I am asking for as much as I am. I am not sure how much it would cost to restore the binding or the covers. However I do know with this current market, if it was restored be worth a few hundred dollars.

The last copyright page has the year 1947, however there is a notation that this was a christmas gift in 1946. See pictures above for the notation.

The Merriams recognized that English was used worldwide and that Merriam-Webster references could serve people all over the globe. To reflect this global outlook, Webster's Unabridged was officially renamed Webster's International Dictionary, Unabridged, with the publication of the 1890 edition. Webster's International Dictionary was an enormous achievement—and a big, heavy book. Since they were first released, Webster's International Dictionary and Webster's Collegiate Dictionary have been updated and revised many times. New editions of the unabridged appeared in 1909 (Webster's New International Dictionary), 1934 (Webster's New International Dictionary, Second Edition), and 1961 (Webster's Third New International Dictionary, Unabridged). Addenda sections, featuring words that came into use after publication of the 1961 edition, have been added regularly.
