I grow Gopher Purge in my yard to discourage gophers, which they seem to do fairly well.

Downside is that, initially, you need to grow Gopher Purge all over the yard and/or wherever you find gopher/mole/vole infestation in order for the critters to get the message.

Upside is that you usually need to grow less and less of them as the seasons go by.

Another upside is that using Gopher Purge is more humane than using traps, poisons, smoke, etc.

Gopher Purge grows tall (about 5 - 6 feet), but is fairly compact and doesn't take up a lot of room per plant.

Gopher Purge is also a slow grower, so your veggies/annuals will most likely be harvested/done growing just as Gopher Purge is really starting to take off.

Since you can't grow garlic (another natural gopher/mole/vole deterrent) near beans/peas, I just wait until my Gopher Purge has grown tall enough and then use them as living bean/pea poles to protect them from the underground critters.
