And another simply spectacular LUXURY retro cocktail dress, supreme luxury indeed. Epitomizes the glitz and glamour of the flashy 80's, with style elements from the 1930's Hollywood silver screen divas, a conversation piece at least!!!! And, a rare collectible that represents the period.
Elaborate style...the dress is created to be fit (snug would be a better word) on the body, with an hourglass shape and narrow sleeves tight on the arm. The lower side of the dress gathers on the side in rounded folds, alongside a wide band of genuine LIZARD skins inserts and heavily sequined areas. The sequined bands and the lizard skin inserts create a loose twisted rope pattern and a peekaboo on the knee...spectacular, as I said. The dress closes in the back with a long zipper and has no shoulder pads or lining. The fabric is very, very thin WOOL knit jersey, exquisite quality, light as a feather. Completing the unusual fabric combination is an equally unusual colour palette, hard to describe: the dress is charcoal with brownish undertones...and the inserts are copper/bronze (in between the two and somewhat muted) coloured genuine lizard and snake skins (as per label which details the fabrics) with large matching same colour sequins.
Just fabulous!
Label reads
*GEORGE GROSS*, another label reads "WOOL", another one gives measurements in cm not inches (must have been made in Europe, probably England) and a size 14 (it is much smaller, that leads me to believe it was made in England), another label gives ironing instructions as follows: "SNAKE&LIZARD, no steam, cool iron with cloth" and a last label details cleaning instructions as follows: "hand dry clean in white spirit only"
MARKED AS SIZE 14 in vintage terms, the dress is actually a small, probably fitting a size 6 maximum for a bust of 35-36". The waist is 29" , the hips up to 38" maybe a bit more but not too much. Lenght 45" at the longest point. Sleeve length of 23" measured from shoulder to end of sleeve. The measurements on label are in centimeters at 90/70/95...a VERY narrow silhouette.
COLOR: as explained above.
FABRIC: VERY fine wool jersey, requires a slip underneath or it will show the skin.
CONDITION: Like all my items, in immaculate VINTAGE condition, that does not mean worn, torn and smelly but PRISTINE, undamaged, specialty dry cleaned for your convenience and ready to wear. Someone must have tried to iron the snakeskin in spite of the warning label, so there is a small area in one of the inserts (possibly seen in pictures but not visible) where the skin is a bit darker and without lustre, the area is 1/8" by maybe 1.5" along a seam...absolutely inconsequential, the dress is indeed breathtakingly beautiful.

I ship Canada Post, usually AIR MAIL. Other shipping methods also available but not preferred...usually more expensive and subject to too much delay in the US customs.

I ONLY ship insured and to a physical person, NO SHIPPING to corporate addresses, third parties (unless it is a surprise gift) or no name destinations. Make sure your address is correct to save both of us time and frustration.

THE ITEMS ARE SHIPPED FROM CANADA and promptly! Please allow reasonable TRANSIT TIME to reach your destination, keeping in mind that nobody is in control of customs delays or your local delivery! I appreciate your patience as delays in customs are inevitable.

PICK UP the item from your local post office if it has not been delivered to your door. It is YOUR responsibility. If item is returned because it has not been picked up within the 2 weeks of its arrival, it is your responsibility to pay for the second shipping cost.

Insured ITEMS LOST OR DAMAGED IN TRANSIT will be fully reimbursed ONLY upon reimbursment from the carrier company, NOT BEFORE. I will gladly take immediate steps to report the damage or loss and offer my full support throughout the process.

NOTE! The carrier company ONLY opens lost item investigations after 45 days from the shipping date AND carriers require proof of damage or loss before processing refund. Your private phone number is required by carriers conducting the "lost item" investigation. The reimbursement of insurance for a lost item is a process, requires anytime between 7-30 days depending on the cooperation of your local post office. Once the insurance is paid, I will reimburse the Buyer through Paypal. If the item is reported as "delivered" by your local post office, further requests for refund will be denied...obviously!
