This agate mantle clock is unique. I believe it is called Blue Agate. The color laying flat is somewhat blue-gray. But when held to the light it has more of a reddish brown tone to it. It has very distinct line in it; these lines really show through when the light is behind it. In fact, it doesn’t even look like the same clock with the light shining through it.
It has a gold hour, minute, and second hand. It has silver and black buttons in place for the 12, 3, 6, and 9 numerals. It is attached to a black metal stand. This clock runs on one C battery. Not sure if it works or not, but this can be replaced easily.
This clock weighs over a pound. It is approximately 9" tall and 6" across, but is only 3/8" thick.
This clock is old; I bought this several years ago from a very elderly lady, who told me she had it for many years. The hands do have an old look to them, and the second hand has been bent a time or two in the past, and some of the gold has worn off them. This is easy to fix. They sell the hands or the whole clocks works for very reasonable prices, if you so desire to change them.
This is a great conversation piece, as well as a functional one. It would make a great gift for someone special. This would look wonderful standing alone or back lit with artificial light, or natural light from a window
