ANTIQUE ART NOUVEAU COPPER BRASS SECESSIONIST HAND HAMMERED CANDELABRA CANDLE HOLDER
GORGEOUS, CIRCA 1890 EUROPE
RARE and exceptional ART NOUVEAU/ Secessionist European brass and copper 3-candle candelabra, mint condition, possibly Austrian. APPRAISED VALUE: $2800. Stands about 14" tall.
This is a stunning typical art nouveau design, with floral elements and geometric design in an intricate mix of organic patterns on the stamp of this hollow base candelabra, and magnificent detailing on the brass finials and arms. The base design is hand hammered in a relief manner, with three pomegranates in a stylized stem. Same design repeats in the back. The patina on the piece is lovely - we have not touched it in 20 years. We purchased this in Sweden from all places, and were told it is continental. It is reminiscent of the work of Joseph Maria the famous Art Nouveau metal worker. This is a rare object of exceptional quality and beauty. We took pictures from most angles for you below. There is a slight dent on the stem, and another small one on the other side, but these do not detract from the integrity and beauty of the piece. The base is wide and sturdy, and the candle cups will hold your lights securely.
