Mixed media painting by Anibal Villacis, signed and dated.  Painting measures 10X13.  Frame measures 15X18. This painting has been in our family for 30 years and has been stored for the past 10 years.

Framed and under glass as originally purchased from an art gallery in the 1960's with original paper backing sealing contents.

Anibal Villacis was born in 1927 in Ecuador and passed away on March 7, 2012.  He was a master painter using mixed media, such as clay and natural pigment.  Villacis studied for a year in Paris then in Madrid for 6 years.  His work is influenced by the Informalist Movement and by Pre-Columbian art.

His work is represented in the permanent collections at the San Diego Museum of Art. Museo Antropologico y de Arte Contemporaneo in Ecuador, National Museum of the Central Bank of Ecuador, Art Museum of the Americas in Washinton DC and the Pat Clark Gallery at Ellsworth College in Iowa.
