Original hand-colored etching/aquatints pulled by artist Anita Jones Stanton, depict her environment in the rural South-street scenes, farm scenes in winter and autumn, Victorian houses, landscapes, and occasionally her little friends and dogs.
Her etchings are of extraoridinary quality. The control of line and tone are masterfully executed. Architectural form in explicit detail lends an almost photographic quality to her etchings. Buildings of interesting historical and personal significance represent a vanishing vision of Americana. She became interested in old homes and antiques during the time she was restoring a 100 year old 16 room house which she now occupies as a studio on her hometown of Gibson, N.C.
Formerly an art teacher, she attended Coker College and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in art education from the University of North Carolina at Greenboro.
Her prints have been in many regional, national and international juried and invitational exhibitions and have received many awards, She is represented in numerous public and private collections throughout the United States, Canada and abroad.
