A handsome Antique Longcase Grandfather Clock from England dating to the Georgian period (1780) and signed by the recognized clockmaker, John Houghton of Chorley in Lancashire. This Antique English Grandfather Clock has an outstanding dark flame mahogany case in the classic Georgian style. The hand-painted face has been professionally restored and features colorful strawberries and cherries in the corner spandrels. In the center, there is a detailed painting of a fortified castle on a hill, overlooking a lake in the distance and a river valley below. In the valley, the Lord and Lady of the Manor stand in Renaissance dress and look up at the castle. Overall Condition is Used - Good. The clock is in running condition. The face has been restored and is very colorful. The case shows miscellaneous nicks, dings, and scratches due to age and use.
