This is a nautical tool called a fid from the early 1800's.
They were used by sailors to help in twisting and splicing rigging lines and adjoining slipped knots into nets and lines as in repairing.
This fid was hand crafted.
This fid is 14 inches Long and 1.75W at the top.
It is made of oak and has great patina. It weighs 6 ounces.
