Antique Kerosene Hanging Lamp: Old East Harwich Church,Cape Cod. Pat Mar 1864(2)

This hanging lamp was originally in the old East Harwich Church on Cape Cod. Two of these lamps were purchased from an antique shop on Cape Cod, Mass. in the early 1970's. Patent date on extended wick adjustment wheel for the wick adjustment on the lamp burner is dated March 4, 1864. Also, the name of Mfg. is noted as "Tailin"? There are three parts to this lamp - (1) The Base that would have held kerosene and is threaded to secure the (2) Lamp Burner. Hinged, and opens. The lamp burner has a long screw that secures the Globe. This threaded screw can be removed; however, it may need replacement as it wll not turn inward to secure the globe. It is important that this screw is functional for securement of the globe; otherwise the globe could dislodge and break. The screw measures 11/16" in length. There is no wick, these are readily available as well as retail fuel mixture that is readily available. The burner houses the (3) Globe. The globe is original and has several bubbles made in the glass blowing process. The globe measures 9-3/8" high, 2-1/8" at the base and 1-5/16" at the top. The height of the lamp is 13-3/16". This item is a wonderful collector's item with a known history, with no dents, holes, or damage. The wick fixture appears to be brass, but has been left to the buyer whether to polish or leave as is.
