A 7 pound Shipwright's Large caulking iron, hand forged iron, stamped O E Cate from the mid 1700's and a 4 ounce sail fid.
These are nautical, maritime, ship building and sail repair or making tools.
The caulking iron was for huge sailing ships probably from Boston. It is a cross between a jerry and a straight tool. The head is 3.5L x4T x.5wide with one edge tapered. There is a hole in the hilt for a wood handle if desired. the entire length of the iron is 22 in. It has no rust, lots of usage patina.
The fid is 11H x2W at the top, made of Ash and came in the top of the caulking iron hilt.
