AMAZINGLY GORGEOUS MAPLE WOOD CHEESE BOARD TRAY by Baribocraft for BLACK DIAMOND CHEESE Belleville Ontario Canada

This beautiful maple wood cheese board tray has silver toned steel metal handles at each end and a white ceramic tile inset into the centre for resting the cheese on to be sliced. There are 2 sections carved into the wood to hold crackers (measuring about 6 3/4 inches x 2 1/2 inches each) and another carved section that would hold a cheese knife (measuring about 8 1/4 inches long). The board measures approx. 13 1/2 inches x 9 1/8 inches and is about 3/4 inch thick. The board is marked/incised on the back "BARIBOCRAFT Made in CANADA for Black Diamond Cheese Limited, Belleville Ontario (Canada)". Baribocraft is no longer in production but they were located in Quebec Canada. This company produced a variety of wooden items in maple and teak in the 60's and 70's and I believe this cheese board is maple. The grain of the wood and the deep colour is exceptionally beautiful and difficult to capture in a photograph.
This is the first item I have seen that was commissioned as a promo piece!! Very rare!!
There is minor corner edge wear but no scuffs on the tile and no utensil marks on the wood. The tray was likely rarely, if ever, used. The tile was secured with a black ceramic cement but it is no longer attached. The tile measures 4 1/4 inches square and could be replaced with ANY colour or pattern desired, so the tray will be shipped "as is" so the buyer can personalize the tray!! There are 4 rubber feet on the back so the tray does not rest directly on a table surface. The handles are firmly secured with screws. This tray is in very good to excellent vintage condition. Baribocraft is no longer in production so is increasingly collectible and uniquely Canadian, and this piece is a HTF (hard to find) promo item!
