From the Panoche Hills of Central California, Hand-2-Mouth Mining presents

This unique and unusual gem material has a tightly packed, jadeite-like structure, giving it superior toughness.
The range of blues and greens are almost endless!
A wide variety of inclusions are featured, including red (iron oxide) and black (manganese oxide) dendrites, metallic crystals & blebs (hematite, pyrite, magnetite, marcasite, manganese oxide) and crystalline inclusions (amphibole).
Most notable are the lines and pools of deep blue gem silica found in much of this fine material!
This unique material was produced by deep subduction metamorphosis, as seabed deposits were thrust up to four miles below the continental crust. The intense heat and extreme pressures of that environment caused localization and crystallization of a wide range of minerals.
This material doesn't yet have a formal mineral classification: We're presently waiting on laboratory reports.
But, you can enjoy cutting and wearing this great stone while we're waiting,
With a Mohs hardness between 6 and 7, it cuts like easy agate, and wears like jade! In cutting and sculpting, it starts to take a polish at 400 grit on silicon dioxide, and 600 on diamond. A velvet polish is achieved at 600, bright at 3000, and mirror at 14,000 diamond. A "dew-drop" shine occurs between 50,000 and 100,000. For the Ultimate shine, follow with cerium oxide on felt!

On sculpting Blue G™, Ron Martinez, noted California Gem Sculptor says:
"It sculpts like jadeite, but takes a polish much more easily!"
Every Blue G™ nodule is carefully hand selected, windowed, and graded to insure maximum cuttability. First orders are a "grab bag" selection of different patterns and colors. For custom selected nodules, see our "bulk, by the pound" listings.
For orders of slabbed material, see our Box O' Blue G™ Slabs listing. For Bulk slabbing, please inquire.
Blue G™ is nodular in occurrence, from cobble to 90 pounds in size.
We have many tons of Blue G™ ready to ship, and invite bulk order inquiries.
