This one glows under black light! It looks nice just as is, but go to anywhere there are UV lights and you'll see the difference.
The marble is vaseline glass, a kind of "depression" glass that has traces of uranium in it! Not enough to be a radioactive problem, but enough to react to UV light.
The marble is a clear yellowish/green color and is wrapped in galvanized steel chainmaille. The cage itself is made of a japanese weave, and the chain on the top is "round" chain.
The original uranium depression glass of the 1920s and 30s was really inexpensive and common because it was made with impure sand that had traces of metals and minerals. Since it was more work to make glass clear, lots of things were made from colored glass back then. In the case of uranium glass, they never had the technology to see how cool it could be!
It works great as a key chain or for hanging on your backpack, but if you remove the keyring, it could also make an awesome pendant, zipper-pull, or even a cell phone charm! If you want, I could also leave the keyring off.
I weave every ring into my pieces by hand, and I'm a real stickler for closing and shaping them well to keep from there being any burrs, or possible snags.
Also, the picture with multiple marbles under black light is there to show the effects of black light and may not necessarily represent the item for sale.
