Character Toys/California Stuffed Toys USA - VINTAGE Plush WALT DISNEY PRODUCTIONS Winnie The Pooh Teddy Bear - seam tag - 12 inches tall - c1940's - 1970's
This amazing old bear is an early version of Winnie the Pooh by Walt Disney Productions (WDP) and was made by Character Toys/California Stuffed Toys USA. He has his original folded fabric tush tag with all of this info!! He is made from short synthetic orange-yellow plush that has faded over time. It is a bit darker in seams and folds. It has some minor surface soiling. He is wearing a red shirt made from a flocked cotton material and is embroidered in chain stitch on the front in yellow "POOH". Some of the flocking on the shirt has wear. One sleeve has lost most of the flocking and there is a tiny 3 corner tear on the top of the sleeve (see last photo). Otherwise there is only a little flocking wear in the creases. He has a couple of loose stitches in the seam under his chin that could easily be repaired. He is stuffed with foam chips which are still quite firm with very little shifting. He is in the spreadeagle sitting position. His eyes are wooden boot buttons, sewed on with dark thread and there is some extra thread ends poking out from underneath (surface sewn on) and his smile is made from red felt and glued on. His black nose is wooly. There is very little thinning to his plush. Mostly on the back of one front paw (see last photo) . An antique bear, c1940's, maybe into the 50's/70's but I think he is early. For his age he is in very good condition and is a terrific Disneyana Collectible!!! A great gift!
