More about this item

DRACULA Bram Stoker The World's Most Famous Horror Book which set the standard for all the other vampire books combined ...and still does and always will. 1897 (1899) Westminster Archibald Constable and Company This copy inscribed by Bram Stoker and dated 1901 on the front free end-paper. Inscribed "Dracula" editions are very desirable. To find a clean copy of this book bound in yellow cloth is also a rare thing. A very clean copy, and very rare thus to find in this condition, of the most famous horror book ever written originally written and published by the same publisher, Constable, in 1897. This copy was published, using the same stamping on the cloth in 1899, and indicated as a 6th printing (please see the photo). So, this book is a first edition, sixth printing (or later printing of the first 1897 Constable edition). The top right tip of the front free end-paper is nicked off, as shown. The front and rear gutter hinges have been expertly repaired, nearly invisibly so. There is a small oval bookplate of Douglas Ewing affixed to the lower left corner of the front fixed end-paper. The interior pages are clean. The first five or so pages have very very light superficial foxing. The signatures of the book are tight. A bit of "dusting" to the top page edges. 16 sheets of advertisements in the rear of this book, beginning with "The Shoulder of Shasta" and ending on page 32 with "Mafeking." The last advertising page has a tiny corner tip of the bottom of the page nicked off. Total of 32 numbered pages on both sides. This last page with advertising is followed by a blank free end-paper. There is minimal soiling to the yellow cloth, and thus this is such an attractive copy that I think it must be a bit supernatural. This fantastic book comes in a quarter Morocco clam shell custom folding book box, stamped in gold and with blood red and black and creme paper on the front and back as shown.
