More about this item

The trend of kimono handbags is something that has its roots as far back in time as the Japanese kimono. Back in the middle ages, the elite Japanese women would wear kimonos made out of the finest silks. They would have special hand bags and purses handmade to compliment their fancy kimonos.

The traditional kimono handbags were made from heavily embroidered silk. The patterns on the handbags would often match the patterns and designs of the kimono in order to bring about a sense of uniformity. Kimono handbags are rare and often worthy of being collectable items.

A kimono handbag is not something that is produced in large quantities. Rather each bag is special and a lot of attention is paid to the details on each bag. Kimono handbags can be great fashion accessories even if you do not wear a kimono. They come in a variety of styles- each unique and special. Carrying a kimono hand bag is like carrying a piece of traditional Japanese art around with you.

Pick your favorite design, fabric, style and size and get ready for a night on the town. These vintage kimono clutches are all drop-dead-gorgeous and ready to wow. Add a little Eastern spice to your wardrobe- while being practical and classy. We assure you no one else will have anything like it.

This is a lovely example of a kimono/ obi style clutch purse. The side gussets allow it to store many everyday items while retaining its versatility and functionality. The snap enclosure securely prevents the bag from accidentally opening. This is a great bag for anyone who appreciates amazing craftsmanship and unique design.

This particular clutch/ purse is truly charming. The detailed intricate weave depicts an abstract stylish whimsical floral pattern- all hand-woven with genuine silver, pearly white, and multicolored gradated pastel silk threads. There is a shaped silver accent on the metal frame at the top which acts as a snap/ clasp as well as a silver chain link handle that can be extended to carry as a purse- or tucked inside when using as a clutch.

The inside is fully lined in rich golden yellow silk. The only signs of age/ wear are two moisture spots on the the exterior (see photo number 3)- not too noticeable.  Otherwise it's in good vintage condition.

Gorgeous life-of-the-party bag!!

The clutch is sturdy and compact and fully lined with one small inside pocket. It is in good vintage condition.
