More about this item
This is an old jar from the 1920s or 1930s, not a reproduction. Drey Perfect Mason half gallon canning jar with wavy glass. Zinc metal ring with glass Ball lid. Fruit Jar, Canning Jar, or Mason Jar collection. Half Gallon Drey Jars are not common. Wonderful addition to your collection. This is probably the oldest fruit jar in my collection. I acquired it in the 1970s from the original owner. The wavy glass sides make it particularly attractive. This jar is still perfectly good for holding anything from pasta to buttons. Drey canning jars were made by Schram Manufacturing Company of St. Louis, Missouri. Ball bought out Schram glass in 1925, but continued to produce Drey canning jars through the 1930s, during the Depression. Interesting note: Leo Drey, president of the Shram company, pronounced his last name "dry." Size: about 9 inches tall; base 4.5 inches diameter; top 2.5 inches diameter. weighs 1 lb 12 oz unpacked. Condition: Excellent. No chips or cracks. USPS Priority Mail with Delivery Confirmation. Consider making more than one purchase to save on shipping.
