Iceberg was the first of the modern hedge roses, introduced in 1958. It is now considered the standard for evergreen, white-blooming hedge roses in the residential landscape.
Iceberg was bred from floribunda stock as a fast-growing modern shrub rose. The limbs most commonly reach 4 to 5' and ultimately forms a mounded 5' tall hedge. This garden rose is a perpetual bloomer and provides almost constant white, double, tea-shaped blooms that emit a sweet scent across a wide area of the garden.
The foliage maintains a deep green color and is evergreen throughout all but the most severe of winters. This is not a grafted rose, but a rose that was developed from Old Garden Roses and exhibits the hardiness of Old Garden Roses.
Iceberg has been field-tested for cold-hardy in USDA Zone 4a. It has also proven to take the heat and drought through USDA Zone 9b. The blue-green foliage is evergreen from zone 5 through 9.
