Description
of the subject depicted in the print:
Lahneck is situated 2 miles from Lahnstein, near the confluence of the Rhine and the Lahn. The ruins of this fortress, originally built in the 13C to protect neighbouring silver mines, were reconstructed in neo-Gothic style in the 19C. From the keep there is a view of the junction of the two rivers and the troubadour castle of Stolzenfels, on the far side of the Rhine.
