Our love for honeybees has led us to create this simple design of a hand-cut honeybee. The body of the bee is brass, the wings are copper and the antennae are nickel silver (copper alloy). As with all our jewelry, this piece is hand-cut and hand-textured. This gal's wings are riveted using copper wire and set so that you can pivot the wings (the wings will not swing around while wearing, but can be moved if desired).
When you purchase this beautiful Honeybee, 25% of the profits will be donated to the UC Davis Honeybee Research Facility. The people at UC Davis are on the frontlines in the battle against Colony Collapse Disorder and work to educate the public on this problem and the benefits of honeybees. About one-third of all the food we consume is a result of honeybees- not just fruits and vegetables but also beef, chicken, pork could not be possible without honeybees pollinating the foods they eat.
