Hurricane Original Soundtrack Music by Nino Rota 1979 Promo LP, Elektra/Asylum Records
Italian composer Nino Rota is as well known for his scores to Italian movies (especially Fellini) as Ennio Morricone is known for Spaghetti Western scores. This Dino De Laurentis disaster film score is about as far away from Rota's surreal one-ring circus music, or the old-world seriousness of his score for The Godfather as you can get. The film was a clunker, but the music (as often times happens with clunkers) is actually quite good.
Not available on CD, the LP is the only way to hear the music, outside of suffering through the film. This copy (and a promo copy, Elektra white label, at that) has some edgewear along the sides of the cover but no splits, call it VG+. The vinyl is an easy Excellent with only a couple of light surface marks that don't affect play. You know how well these promo copies hold up. If you're a Rota fan or completist, you definitely want to add this album to your collection. Rota's Italian and popular film scores are easy enough to come by on CD and LP, but not this one.
