Interested how my Ivory collection came about?
Read Blog, my Father the Ivory Carver
There are only certain people that sit in a studio and do this painstakingly work
with tiny brushes made of just a few hairs.
They still do this today in Germany (not many though).

That's an example how I display my precious Miniatures
Put an empty frame around more than one item to create a big display.
But you also can frame just one miniature.
Portrait miniatures began to flourish in 16th century Europe and were popular throughout the 17th and 18th centuries.
In the 18th century, miniatures were painted with watercolor on ivory.
Originally used as a means to introduce people to each other over distances,
they were often used as personal mementos or as jewelry.
Although the development of daguerreotypes and photography in the mid-19th century
contributed to the decline of their popularity,
some 20th century artists continued to accept commissions.
It's very large: 11 1/2 by almost 9 inches
and comes from my personal collection
Please, bid with confidence: My own father was an ivory carver -
we have been in this business since the 1910s
A little bit about Ivory:
Ivory is a hard, white, opaque substance that is the bulk of the teeth and tusks of
some animals such as elephant, hippopotamus, walrus, mammoth, etc
Prior to the introduction of plastics, it was used for billiard balls,
piano keys, buttons and ornamental items
The word "ivory" was traditionally applied to the tusks of elephants
In June of 1997 the ban on ivory trade was lifted under CITES guidelines
and then agreed upon by its member countries
Nothing really comes close or compares with beauty of ivory
and was admired for centuries by caesars, czars, kings and queens
