Large #125 Texas Ware Confetti Spatter Mixing Bowl Melmac
This primarily avocado green with red/yellow/, etc spatter mixing bowl is highly collectible and very practical melmine/melmac. We love it for popcorn! Also, great to use as that "garbage bowl" for convenience when you are cooking.
These vintage bowls were made in Dallas, Texas by the Texas Ware Plastics & Manufacturing Company. There is raised embossing on the bottom of each bowl indicating that it is an authentic Texas Ware bowl. The bowls were originally sold in sets of three and this, the largest (#125) bowl, measures 11.5" in diameter and 5.25" high.
The bowl is in good condition with minor scratching in the bottom (caused by mixing utensils over the years). The finish is very nice with a high gloss.
The speckling is also known as "confetti" or "spatter" and happened because these bowls were originally made to use up surplus/reject plastic from their main product, melmine/melmac dishware. The bowls were manufactured from the 50s to early 90s. I've not found a way to determine the actual age of the bowl as "history" is limited.
