Limoges dresser tray Jean Pouyat Hand painted cabbage roses signed Duval. JP over L underglaze backmark. Pale lemony-green background, handpainted with luxurious Victorian roses handpainted in tones of deep rose, apricot and white and leaves in tones of green, apricot and gold. Signed "Duval" on lower right front. Gilt edging all around with embossed floral accents (more visible if you enlarge the picture). The photo simply doesn't do this piece justice, it is absolutely exquisite in person. Approx. 9"x6"x1&1/2" deep. There is a visible chip on bottom rim (please see the photo of the bottom) as well as a barely discernable hairline crack in surface glaze on front, approx. 2"in length (you will not be able to see the hairline in the picture, only if you closely examine the tray itself). Estimated to be from the period between 1890 to 1932, as indicated by the "JP over L" backmark in green underglaze (P75a mark, according to my online research). I've seen similar items referred to online as a "relish tray" or "ice cream dish", but I prefer to think of it as a "dresser tray".
If you appreciate fine Limoges porcelain or would love to start a collection, this is really exquisite piece, very reasonably priced. Shipping includes postal insurance for the full price of this item. If I am able to package and ship for a lower price, I will gladly refund the difference.
