Mexican Artisan Tin Mermaid "Brunette Angel" Wall Art
Beautiful Mermaid Folk Art! Sculpture! FREE Shipping - Continental US!
About This Auction: This auction item is for an original, one-of-a-kind, hand made and hand painted work of art by artisan, Enrique Badillo, Tinsmith extraordinaire from Guanajuato, Mexico. It is inspired by the craft of Traditional Mexican Tin Folk Art. Mermaids were a subject of the traditional art. The stylization of the piece, the colors & the fusing of mermaid and angel seem to present a modern twist.
The artwork is Mexican tin folk art or tinsmithing. However, this piece is atypical in that the subject matter is a Mermaid. Badillo’s pieces are easily identifiable because he is the only Mexican tinsmith we know who creates mermaids in this way. Because each one is made by hand, each is unique. The art is 3-Dimensional, striking & colorful!
This mermaid measures approximately 5.5" Tall X 4" at her widest point (in this case, her wingspan).
This beauty is always ready to hang anywhere (round hook mechanism is built into the back).
Beautiful colors! Que linda!
Enrique Badillo mermaids are very collectible and are hard to come by.

About Mexican Tin & Mexican Tinsmiths: Tin was brought by the Spaniards as a basic material for utensils and wares. Tin became a popular medium for art in Mexico. Because of its wealth of minerals and prominent mining industry, the Mexican state of Guanajuato is the center of the country’s Tinsmith Tradition. Artisans cut, beat, stamp, shape, punch, etch, or press the tin by hand into an endless variety of practical and decorative pieces.
