Tiny layered version of my Gaia necklace series, this little artifact measures a mere 3/8"" (10mm) across. Marked and patina on both sides and hangs from a 16" oxidized sterling silver ball chain.

This new series of necklaces is perfect for layering, with my other jewelry designs or with your own personal collection. The oxidized sterling silver chain is a wonderfully subtle complement to the ivory color of the main bead. A tiny genuine pipestone heishi OR a handmade heishi is the perfect second layer to this ancient-looking pendant. I love how it looks like a tiny heart!

Each artifact is handmade, one at a time, by me--no two are alike. I think I once counted over 38 production steps to make each one. It shows in the fine attention to detail.

"Gaia" is from an earth goddess of ancient Greece. It represents a view of the earth as a living, integrated entity--all life, the land, air and oceans. When I first made these simple wheels and circles, the word "gaia" sprang into my mind, and that's what I've called them ever since.
